David Matsuo, PharmD

A graduate of the University of California, San Francisco School of Pharmacy, Dr. Matsuo started his pharmacy career as a staff pharmacist at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City which included IV admixture services. As an intern pharmacist, he was trained in IV services and pharmacy compounding at Long Beach VA Hospital and Napa State Hospital. With this background, he devoted the last three decades bringing expertise in these two pharmacy specialties to the community. He worked with pioneering physicians in the Bay Area to develop ground breaking sterile compounds, including intraspinal injections and other compounded dosage forms for a variety of medical conditions where conventional medications either were unavailable or sub-optimal. He has personally developed thousands of formulations and continues to relish the compounding challenges presented to him to help patients achieve better outcomes. In his spare time, Dr. Matsuo enjoys golf, travel, ballroom dancing, his 49er games and mentoring the next generation of pharmacists.
